Put on your gardening clothes and join us in the
garden…we’ll celebrate the season and learn more
about the plants and critters that live in the
garden! These programs are open to the children and
grandchildren of Family Level Wing Haven members. To

Haven’s birds are busy building nests throughout
the garden! We’ll learn about the birds that
nest here and lend a hand by putting our some
nesting materials for them to use.
Spring Greens!

Skipper,
our resident bunny, has eaten everything that we
planted for him in February and is ready for
some fresh spring greens! Come learn about
rabbits and what they eat in the wild. We’ll
also re-furbish the bunny garden and plant some
more curly parsley for Skipper!

Stop by
the garden and we’ll learn about the
caterpillars and butterflies that live in the
garden. We’ll even plant some of their favorite
treats!
Flower Power

Flowers
have an important job in the garden! We’ll
discover just what they do and even make a
little house for their helpers.
June
Breakfast with
the Birds

Take a
garden walk with our feathered friends and take
them a special treat. While they eat, we’ll
enjoy our own breakfast under the pergola.

Camp Wing Haven –
Session I
Monday-Thursday, June 9-12, 9:30 a.m.-noon, For
rising 1st and 2nd graders. $79 per child.
Camp Wing Haven –
Session II
Monday-Thursday, June 23-26 9:30 a.m.-noon, For
rising 2nd and 3rd graders--Camp Wing Haven alumni
welcome! $79 per child.
Enjoy a week of the wonders of Wing
Haven and take the time to really experience the
garden! We’ll use literature as a starting point to
explore the garden and its critters, get our hands
(and usually everything else!) dirty in the
Children’s Garden planting vegetables and flowers,
and improve the garden as a wildlife habitat.
Junior Master
Gardener Course
Monday-Friday, June 16-20, 10:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.,
For rising 4th and 5th graders. $100 per child.
Enjoy a
hands-on learning experience that teaches gardening
skills and appreciation for the environment!
Mecklenburg County Master Gardeners (and Wing Haven
volunteers!) Rosalie Holzinger and Sue Riley return
for the Junior Master Gardener course…a huge hit in
recent summers!
This course
is a thorough introduction to everything students
need to know to be a successful gardeners. Although
there’s plenty of time for practice at Wing Haven in
our Children’s Garden, the program does include
homework!
After
successfully completing the course, participants
receive certification as a Junior Master Gardener
from the National JMG Office at Texas A&M. The JMG
handbook and all other materials are provided.
Please bring a lunch and come prepared to get dirty!
