 Master Gardeners of Mecklenburg County

Wing Haven is actively supported by Mecklenburg County Extension Master Gardener volunteers. Master Gardeners share their horticultural expertise as part of the garden maintenance crew, in the nursery shop, lead workshops and presentations, conduct garden tours and work closely with garden staff members as part of their designated ‘Community Gardens Project’ service.


In Mecklenburg County, Master Gardeners are part of the volunteer staff of NC State University and A&T State University’s Cooperative Extension Service, which provides unbiased, research-based educational assistance and programs in horticulture and environmental issues to the gardening public.
